Dr. Albert Robert Rubin is a Professor in the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department at North Carolina State University and a Senior Environmental Consultant with A. R. Rubin and Associates. He holds a Doctorate and a master’s degree in Adult Education with a specialization in Health Education from North Carolina State University, in conjunction with the School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has over four decades of experience in environmental engineering, focusing on wastewater and biosolids management. He has been instrumental in developing guidelines and rules for wastewater reuse, biosolids management, and solid waste compost. His notable contributions include the development of the NSF 350 Standard for non-potable water use and reuse, and he has assisted building code enforcement officials in New York City with its application. From 1999 to 2005, Dr. Rubin served as a visiting scientist with the USEPA, where he contributed to the decentralized wastewater management program, earning a Bronze Medal for his efforts. He has published extensively, contributing to over 30 significant publications and presentations, and has served on various committees, including the Environmental Management Commission for North Carolina and the USEPA Infrastructure review committee on nutrient recovery. Dr. Rubin continues to be active in teaching, research, and consulting, addressing a variety of water, wastewater, and solid waste management challenges.
